Meet Naturally Gorgeous Adriana
This month’s Naturally Gorgeous, Adriana is one of those girls that appears to be lit from within. She glows with health and natural beauty. Small wonder, when she spends most of her free time outdoors. Called “Adri” for short, Adriana is the opposite of high maintenance in all areas save one – her hair. Adriana, like all of our Naturally Gorgeous models, is unretouched and photoshop free!

Meet Naturally Gorgeous India
India was one of the very early Alima employees, from back when Alima was still in founder Kate O’Brien’s house. She left us long ago to pursue her education, so we were thrilled when she agreed to come in and be one of our Naturally Gorgeous models! It was a great chance to catch up with this young woman who approaches life with great passion and enthusiasm.
Meet Naturally Gorgeous Kristen Arnett
Although we met Kristen Arnett just over a year ago, it seems as if she has been part of our Alima Pure “family” forever. We are thrilled to add her to our Naturally Gorgeous model roster!
As a green makeup artist living and working in New York City, she is one of Alima Pure’s biggest champions, spreading the word about our products here and abroad. And on a more personal level, as a former resident of our fair city, she “gets” our humor and appreciates how our surroundings have shaped Alima Pure. To say we are thrilled to have Kristen in our corner would be a vast understatement, and we’re sure you will love her as much as we do.
AP: What do you do for a living?
KA: I’m a makeup artist! I am also a beauty writer for various sites, a speaker and teacher for workshops whenever possible on the art of makeup. I’m the founding editor in chief of GreenBeautyTeam.com which began as personal project but is now its own whole job. So, the question is what don’t I do?
AP: Is there an interesting story about how you came to be a makeup artist?
KA: Yes, but then his article would be 10 pages long, at least. Let’s just say that at 13 years old I was making over everyone from my mom to my friends. I was transfixed by transformation. I think at least 70% of what I know about makeup came out of the zillion times I watched the instructional VHS tape that came with my mom’s order of Victoria Jackson Cosmetics. I sold makeup at a Merle Norman boutique while going to college and then worked for their headquarters after I graduated. Finally giving up a full-time job to become a freelancer involved a lot of risk taking. It hasn’t been an easy road but it has been totally mine.
The natural/green angle that developed is completely the fault of (fellow makeup artist) May Lindstrom who’s skin looked completely fabulous with just natural products. She’s the first person I had ever heard use the words “toxic” and “cosmetics” in the same sentence. I started listening, researching and became a convert. Of course she’s now an expert writer on Green Beauty Team too.
Meet Naturally Gorgeous Logan
When you first meet someone who is blessed with a willowy figure and long, naturally blonde hair (not to mention the fleeting but powerful possession of youth), it may be difficult to tame your internal green-eyed monster. However, meeting our April Naturally Gorgeous model quickly turns the monster into a purring kitten. Logan meets the world with humbleness and warmth, and after just a short time in her company, you just know…this is a young woman guided by her heart. Her love of family and animals and her wish to be with loved ones whenever possible, combined with her stunning appearance, make Logan truly Naturally Gorgeous.
AP: What do you do for a living?
LG: I currently work in childcare and am in the process of pursuing a career within the field of Occupational Therapy.
AP: What do you do for fun?
LG: I like to go on adventures that have no true destination. When the weather is nice I like to be outdoors at all times, preferably near any body of water. I have the most fun when I am surrounded by the people I love; when that is the case I am happy doing anything.

Behind the scenes with Alima Pure & Joni Kabana
If you frequent our Alima Pure facebook page, you probably noticed that we added some “behind-the-scenes” photos last week. These were taken at a photo shoot we did at the studio of the amazing Joni Kabana, a renowned photographer who lives here in Portland (when she isn’t off to Ethiopia or a rodeo). If you mouse over the images in the portfolios at jonikabana.com, you can identify some of our past, present and future Alima Pure Naturally Gorgeous models.
Shoots at Joni’s studio are always a fantastic experience. Joni’s spirit puts even the most camera-shy at ease, and she is able to bring out the sparkle in each subject. We want our Naturally Gorgeous models to look like the real women that they are, and to still capture what it is that makes them “naturally gorgeous.” Joni does that with expertise that almost makes it look easy, instead of the complicated and personal process that it is. Since we have vowed that we will not retouch our models, what you see when you look at the photos is a combination of their natural beauty, Alima Pure cosmetics and Joni’s artistry.
The shoot we did last week was definitely one of our most successful. We squeezed in six women, each of them the very definition of Naturally Gorgeous. They represent quite a range of ages and interests. With the music pumping, we created and applied a makeup look for each model, then sent her off for her time in front of Joni’s lens. We’ll be unveiling the final images over the next several months, but here are a few sneak peeks, taken on a mobile phone (so please excuse the quality).
