A holiday treat for you

A Treat: Quince Organic Nourishing Lipbalm Gift with Purchase
December may just be the most difficult month to take care of yourself. Because we know most of our customers are spending the month thinking of (and doing things for) others, we want to give you a little treat. We have created a beautiful, limited edition shade of our popular Organic Nourishing Lipbalm…Quince! Now you may be wondering, “why did they make a yellow lip balm?” But Quince is not the color of the quince fruit, but the Quince flower. A delicious, bright red, with a slight hint of sparkle, Quince is brighter than Holly Berry and more red than Sweet Pea.

During December, we will be adding Quince to all orders that total $45 (before shipping is added). It won’t show up on your receipt, but the Alima elves that are packing your orders will be sure to add it just the same. The offer is only good while supplies last, and while we think we made enough to last he full month, you might want to order soon, just to be sure!

This little gift is just one of the ways that we want to remind you, Alima Pure loves our customers! We wish you the happiest of holiday seasons.

Alima Pure Staff Favorite: Cranberry Organic Nourishing Lipbalm

Alima Pure Staff Favorite: Portia loves Cranberry Lipbalm

When we asked Alima Pure staffer Portia why she selected Cranberry Organic Nourishing Lipbalm as her Staff Favorite, she was ready for us!  ”I have a couple of reasons,”  she said, with a smile playing across her Cranberry-hued lips.

“First, I really like bold lip color, but conventional lipsticks often dry out my lips.  What I like about our Cranberry lipbalm is that I can get a nice, rich color, but it is still moisturizing and conditioning.  With this, I don’t have that problem with my lips being dried out.”  Portia is right, of course.  Because it is made with organically sourced natural ingredients like Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Cocoa Seed Butter,  you know that it is filled with hydration, but is also incredibly nurturing to the sensitive skin of your lips.  White Tea and Pomegranate extracts provide antioxidant protection to keep your lips looking and feeling their best.

“The other thing that I love is that you can control how opaque or sheer it is when you wear it, by whether you apply it straight from the tube or with a lip brush,” Portia continued.  ”During the day, when I’m at work, I usually apply with a lip brush so that it is more sheer and subdued.  But when I go out in the evening, I want it darker, so I apply it straight from the tube!”

Meet Naturally Gorgeous Adriana

This month’s Naturally Gorgeous, Adriana is one of those girls that appears to be lit from within. She glows with health and natural beauty.  Small wonder, when she spends most of her free time outdoors.  Called “Adri” for short, Adriana is the opposite of high maintenance in all areas save one – her hair.  Adriana, like all of our Naturally Gorgeous models, is unretouched and photoshop free!

AP:  What do you do for a living?

AF:  I’m a hair stylist, specializing in men’s haircuts.  I also travel and train stylists for a men’s haircare line.

AP:  Do you have kids or pets?

AF:  No kids, but I have a Weimaraner and a German Shorthair, named Madison and Kaylee.

Sugar Plum Lipbalm: You asked, we listened.

Alima Pure's Sugar Plum Organic Nourishing Lipbalm

During December, we offered a special, limited edition Organic Nourishing Lipbalm with purchases over $50.  Sugar Plum was a huge hit, it seemed to be a new favorite for just about everyone who was lucky enough to try one.  The plum with a hint of brown and just a touch of shimmer was perfect for many complexions.  We received many requests to make it a permanent part of our lipbalm line-up.

That seemed like a reasonable request, so starting today, you can now purchase Sugar Plum lipbalm year ’round.  And to celebrate, we have priced it at an introductory $5 from now through January 30.

Welcome to the family, Sugar Plum!

Dare to mix Cold and Warm

Dare to Mix Warm and Cold You have probably been told that when you apply your makeup, you need to pick either warm or cool colors and stick to them for your entire face. While that isn’t bad advice, there are exceptions to the rule, and conveniently, our Cold Outside and Warm Inside collections contain some of the very best shades with which to break the rules!

Justine is wearing shades from both Cold Outside and Warm Inside. We started with her Beige 4 foundation. We brushed Rosy Cheeks form the Cold Outside collection on the apples of her cheeks.

On her eyes, we applied Candlelight from the Warm Inside Collection from lashes to brows. On her lids, we applied Mulled Cider, also from Warm Inside. Then we used a damp #33 Angle Liner Brush to line her upper lid with Jack Frost from Cold Outside, winging the liner at the outer corner just a bit.  When you are thinking of mixing warms and cools, remember that golden shades look especially beautiful with blues and purples.

We finished the look with a light dusting of shimmer powder Fire Light from Warm Inside on the tops of her cheekbones, and shined her lips with Organic Nourishing Lipbalm in Mango. Who knew breaking rules could be so pretty?

Stuff a stocking in a snap!

You’ve probably whittled down your holiday shopping by this point, and maybe you’re stuck where many of us at Alima Pure are…the teachers, the co-workers, the cousins, the “I should have something handy in case so-and-so forgot were weren’t going to exchange gifts this year.” We think we have the perfect solution–our Under the Mistletoe Collection!

Introducing Rahel, our Naturally Gorgeous Model

Rahel is so warm that it almost feels like she is radiating sunshine. A Portland physician who cares for women with pelvic floor disorders such as prolapse and incontinence, Rahel has also worked at the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa in her native Ethiopia. It is easy to imagine the soothing effect she would have on young women suffering from the condition of fistula, which causes them to become social outcasts.

We selected Rahel as our third Naturally Gorgeous model because of her smile and warmth, but we were delighted when she expressed surprise that we could match a foundation to her skin. Prior to Alima Pure, she had never found a foundation that truly matched her skin. Can you guess from her photo which shade is hers? Read on to find out!

Update your makeup bag for winter

The sudden drop in temperature here leaves no doubt, winter truly is just around the corner!  And as the weather changes and the last traces of any tan you had fades into oblivion, you may want to consider updating the contents of your makeup bag for the season.

Comfort is key when the weather gets colder, so it is always a good idea to have a moisturizer that you can apply to hands, elbows or even your face when you really need some moisture.  Coconut oil is a great choice, you can easily transfer some from a larger container into a small jar, and because it is solid at room temperature, you don’t need to worry about leaks or spills.

To add a little color back to your face, carry a bronzer that is slightly darker than your natural skintone and a blush with a rosier tone.  Satin Matte Blush in Antique Rose, Honey Rose and Desert Rose are great options, as are Bronzers like Maricaibo, Mauna Loa and Trinidad.

When the skies are dull, add a bit more brightness to your look with a Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow with not-so-subtle sparkle.  Buttercream, Venus, Paris or Leone are easy to sweep all over the eye area and look great with or without a contour color.

Finally, switch from a drying lipstick to our moisturizing Organic Nourishing Lip Balm.  Cranberry gives lipstick-like coverage, but provides anti-oxidants and moisture at the same time.
