For the Perfect Brows

Alima Pure Staff Makeup trends picks for spring Eyebrows may well be the most often overlooked area of the face when it comes to applying makeup. Maybe you feel as if your brows are already heavy enough, or don’t love the natural shape. But what women who skip brow makeup may not realize is that your brows provide a frame that can draw attention to the eye, and can even make them look larger.

If you are unhappy with the shape of your brows, pay to have them professionally shaped. For maintenance, you can either visit a professional regularly, or tweeze strays on your own, keeping the shape created by the professional, and only returning for a reshape occasionally.

Oh, Deer!

Oh, Deer! An adorable makeup Tutorial - Alima Pure

Recently, we were contacted by Portland-area photographer Diana Sell with an interesting question.  She wanted to do a photo shoot for her son’s Kindergarten class as an auction project, and needed a little help with the makeup.  Now, normally we aren’t fans of kindergarteners wearing makeup, but Diana had found an on-line tutorial on how to do deer makeup.  Since her son attends Deer Creek school, it seemed like a natural!  But the tutorial showed all sorts of makeup that didn’t seem like the best things to put on the sensitive skin of young children, so Diana reached out for a little advice.

Extend Your Glow with Bronzer and Shimmer Powder Duos

Extend Your Glow As summer comes to a close many people find that leaves aren’t the only thing changing color.  That slight golden glow that you may have built up with careful sun exposure is probably beginning to fade, leaving you feeling a bit pale.  Now you can Extend Your Glow with Alima Pure’s three new Bronzer/Shimmer Powder duos, available for a limited time only.   These duos include one matte Bronzer (pick the shade that is right for your skin), and a Luminous Shimmer Powder in a shade selected to work with your Bronzer to warm your complexion and give you a subtle sheen when you so desire.

Maracaibo Bronzer, our bronzer for the fairest of skins, is paired with Nectar Luminous Shimmer Powder.  This pairing is perfect for you if your skin tone is similar to that of Nicole Kidman or Carey Mulligan, or in other words, if most bronzers are too dark for you.

How to choose an Eyeliner Brush

#31 Fine Liner Brush If you are thinking of trying an Alima Pure brush for your mineral eyeliner, you’ve probably noticed, we have two different versions.  The #31 Fine Liner Brush is a pointed shape (and also excellent for spot concealing), while the #33 Angle Liner Brush (which is also great for filling in brows) is flat and angled.  So how does one decide between the two?

Think about how you like to apply your eyeliner.  Do you “sketch” it on with a back and forth motion?  Do you favor pencils to liquids and gels because you can use this back and forth motion more easily?  Then the #31 brush is the one for you.

If you tend to “draw” on your eyeliner in a long, sweeping motion, and sometimes wear liquids or gels because you can get such a precise line with this type of motion, you will probably prefer the #33 brush.

With either brush, you can use your eyeliner wet or dry.  If you prefer to use the eyeliner dry, be sure that you load the brush with color and then tap the bristles into the lid of the jar to work the color into the brush.  This will help avoid dark sprinkles on your cheeks.

How to wear The Hamptons eyeshadow collection – Summer Fling Look

Alyson in the Hamptons Eyeshadow Collection Our Summer Fling look, created with The Hamptons collection, is easy to apply, but because it uses the beautiful, ocean-blue Southampton eyeshadow, the look is more playful and bright than the more neutral Summer Romance look.

Here we applied it to Alima Pure staffer Alyson.  We started with her Satin Matte Foundation in Beige 3.  Then we applied Shelter Island eyeshadow from crease to brows with the #37 Brush.  Using the #39 Large Shadow Brush, we placed Southampton eyeshadow on the lid, from lashes to crease.  The crease was contoured with Montauk on the #36 Brush and then we lined with Amagansett eyeshadow on a damp #31 Brush.  We tinted Alyson’s cheeks with  Sahara Luminous Shimmer Blush and then slicked on some Organic Nourishing Lipbalm in Mango.

The Hamptons Eyeshadow collection

By popular request, we have applied The Hamptons Eyeshadow Collection to Alima Pure staffer Candice, following the directions for the Summer Romance look.  The Hamptons will be available for sale for several more weeks, but don’t delay– just like your summer rental, it will be gone by Fall!

3 for $30 Eyeshadow Set: Vivid! for Brown Eyes

Our first 3 for $30 eyeshadow sets were such a big hit that we decided to go a little bit wild with the newer ones. So when we first asked Urmila to model our Vivid! for Brown Eyes eyeshadow set, she was agreeable. Then we told her the colors in the set. “Aegean??? I don’t think I can wear blue eyeshadow,” she said. Of course we told her she definitely could, and we would prove it. The results are here for the world to see!

Select Makeup Colors with Ease

Have you noticed that it is now just a little easier to shop and select makeup colors on the Alima Pure website?  We have been adding little features and hints to make it simpler to find what you’re looking for, even if you aren’t always exactly sure what you’re looking for!

In our website make-over, we added a handy feature that allows you to sort all of our eye products and blush shades by color. Of course, we recognize that our idea of “pink” might not be exactly the same as your idea of “pink,” but keep in mind that we have listed them by the shade we are most likely to call a particular color.  While Eden Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow could be called “green” or “gold,” it definitely could not be called “yellow,” so it will show up in a search for “green” colors.
