How to wear The Hamptons eyeshadow collection – Summer Fling Look

Alyson in the Hamptons Eyeshadow Collection Our Summer Fling look, created with The Hamptons collection, is easy to apply, but because it uses the beautiful, ocean-blue Southampton eyeshadow, the look is more playful and bright than the more neutral Summer Romance look.

Here we applied it to Alima Pure staffer Alyson.  We started with her Satin Matte Foundation in Beige 3.  Then we applied Shelter Island eyeshadow from crease to brows with the #37 Brush.  Using the #39 Large Shadow Brush, we placed Southampton eyeshadow on the lid, from lashes to crease.  The crease was contoured with Montauk on the #36 Brush and then we lined with Amagansett eyeshadow on a damp #31 Brush.  We tinted Alyson’s cheeks with  Sahara Luminous Shimmer Blush and then slicked on some Organic Nourishing Lipbalm in Mango.

The Hamptons Eyeshadow collection

By popular request, we have applied The Hamptons Eyeshadow Collection to Alima Pure staffer Candice, following the directions for the Summer Romance look.  The Hamptons will be available for sale for several more weeks, but don’t delay– just like your summer rental, it will be gone by Fall!

Portland ranks #1 for skin health

The 10 Best US Cities for your Skin It’s great to be #1 at something, even if that ranking comes with a price.

Dailyglow.com recently published a ranking of 55 U.S. cities, analyzed for how good or bad they are for your skin.  We’re happy to report that Portland, Oregon came out on top!  (Click on image to enlarge.) They applaud our low pollution and ozone levels, but we know that, just like #3-ranked Seattle, it is also because we see so little of the sun.  In fact, a little research shows that Portland averages only 68 clear days a year.  (Clear days are defined as days when no more than 30% of the sky is covered with clouds.)

We complain about the weather, and we suffer through it, forgoing umbrellas because ” real Portlanders don’t use them.”  Wearing rain boots to any place other than a pumpkin patch or soggy athletic field immediately pinpoints you as a non-native.  But honestly, we are lucky.  While most of the rest of the country was suffering through record high temperatures in late June and early July, we were donning sweaters every morning and wishing the sun would come out for more than a few minutes.  As the Midwest and high plains states experience drought, we’re concerned with delayed garden growth due to lack of sun and an abundance of rain.  We don’t have to worry much–July, August and September are our sunniest months, and we’re only half-way through the first of those.

So if you catch us complaining about the rain or lack of sun, feel free to remind us…it’s keeping our skin healthy and (we hope) young-looking!

Alima Pure Store Profile: Green Tree Boutique

green&greener exterior

Growing up in Laguna Beach, Liz Dick dreamed of someday having her own boutique in her hometown.  In April, her dream came true, and Green Tree Boutique opened its doors to eco-conscious shoppers, and welcomes shoppers of the four-legged variety as well.  (Green Tree celebrates “Yappy Hour” once a month, encouraging customers to bring their canine best-friends for treats and fun.)

Can you tell us a little about your background and past experience?
As a corporate event planner and a brand manager for a hospitality firm, I understood the value of building a brand and promoting it through events. I wanted to meld my experience with my passion for sustainability and my dream to own my own boutique in my hometown of Laguna Beach.
